VOTING GUIDELINES FOR CASH FOR SCHOOLS
(a) Employees of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., Sinclair Television of Portland, LLC, and any other company which owns, programs or provides other services to television broadcast station KATU-TV, (collectively the "Station"), The Douglas Group, Inc. dba UPICKEM, Inc., Facebook, Inc., Facebook.com, their affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies, any and all local television broadcast and cable stations, local radio and other media companies, and the immediate family members of each are ineligible to participate. The term "immediate families" includes spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, children and grandchildren.
(b) No purchase is necessary to vote. Each IP address is eligible to vote one (1) time per day. Voters must be 14 years of age to participate.
(c) Participating schools include any public or charter high school in Multnomah County, Clackamas County, Marion County, Clark County or Washington County.
(d) Watch KATU-TV News daily and viewers will be will be prompted to log on to the KATU Facebook page at www.facebook.com/katunews and click “Like” to access the Cash for Schools tab to register and vote for their favorite high school or go to KATU.com to the Inside KATU page at www.katu.com/about and click on the Cash For Schools contest icon to register and vote.
(e) The online voting starts on January 24, 2014 at 4:30a.m PST and ends on February 20, 2014 at 12:00p.m. PST (the “Voting Period”). Votes must be received by 11:59 p.m. PST each day of each week during the Voting Period. Each Thursday at 12:00p.m PST during the Voting period the high school with the most valid votes will be chosen as the winner for the week. Each winning high school will not be eligible to win more than one (1) time. In the event of a tie, one (1) winner will be randomly selected from among the tied high schools entrants. Valid votes will NOT carry over to the next weekly online voting period.
(f) The Station reserves the right to determine in its sole and absolute discretion whether the online votes are valid, and may disqualify any duplicate votes. Multiple and/or irregular votes or multiple votes from the same user or users, including but not limited to, votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, other automated means or other source will be considered invalid. Participating high schools are prohibited from obtaining votes by offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public, vote farming, vote purchasing, or any other activity that artificially inflates such high school’s votes as determined by Station in its sole discretion.
(g) Each high school with the highest number of valid votes each week during Voting Period will receive $10,000 for their school courtesy of the M&N Dealerships IX, LLC, dba McLoughlin Chrysler Jeep & McLoughlin Fiat. As a condition of wining, the winning high school will host a school assembly to accept the $10,000 prize. The High School Administrators, Parent Teacher Organization, or Student Council of each school will vote to determine the use of the prize for the benefit of the students.
(h) The authorized individual of each winning school must sign a release and affidavit of eligibility in order to receive the prize. Each winning high school is responsible for paying all local, county, state and federal taxes on prizes based on the estimated retail value of the prizes as set forth in these rules. M&N Dealership IX, LLC will issue 1099 form.
(i) Sinclair Television of Portland, LLC, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc. are not liable if the provider of any part of the prize fails to satisfy its obligations to furnish its portion of the prize.
(j) Sinclair Television of Portland, LLC, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. and Sinclair Television Group, Inc. are not responsible for any liabilities arising directly or indirectly from the award or use of the prize.
(k) All voting information shall become the property of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc. and the Station and will not be acknowledged or returned.
(l) By participating in this online vote, each voter waives any and all claims of liability against the Station, any sponsors, Facebook.com, and their respective parent, affiliates, officers, directors, employees and agents, for any and all claims, loss, damage or injury which may occur as a result of voter’s participation in this contest.
(m) Facebook, Inc. and www.facebook.com (collectively, “Facebook”) are not affiliated with the Station nor this contest. This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by or associated with Facebook.
